George Said

Academic Profile
George is a professional
physical geographer working both in the public and private sectors. George
graduated B.A.(Hons) in geography in 1998 and has furthered his studies at
Masters degree in the field of physical geography at the University of Malta,
graduating in 2001.
Practice Areas
George acts a consultant on
environmental and transport issues to various architectural firms. Backed by a
team of specialists, he has compiled a diverse project experience in the fields
of environmental regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, environmental project
description statements, agricultural management, waste management and processing
of waste and management of natural resources.
George has also carried out traffic
impact studies for several major projects. These are frequently carried out as
part of a larger Environmental Impact Assessment or as a stand-alone report.
In direct partnership with Landscape Architects, George has also carried out
visual assessments for developments consisting in accurate computer-generated
models and photomontages.
George is responsible for the firm's
environmental practice.
Lecturing &
Conferences
George is visiting lecturer at the
University of Malta Gozo centre where he delivers lectures on various
environmental subjects at undergraduate and graduate level. He has also been
appointed as a scholar on the Gozo University Board.
George has spoken at several
conferences, workshops and seminars on environmental matters, both locally and
abroad.
Consultancy Contributions
George has contributed to various
publications. He has served on a team of consultants responsible for the
compilation of the Maltese Government's report to the World Summit on
Sustainable Development, Johannesburg, 2002. He is currently working on
Malta's Sustainable Development Strategy document.
Memberships
Mr. George Said is a member of the
Royal Geographical Society in London.
